Australian Open Facts


  • A completely open-to-enter event with no qualifying;
  • Sectional rounds played in each discipline initially, with qualifiers progressing through to knockouts;
  • Completely random draw – no seedings in either sectional or knockout play;
  • Up to 15 hosts clubs spread from Coolangatta in the south to Beenleigh in the north;
  • 14 days of competition from June 10-23, 2016;
  • 20 disciplines with a total prize pool of $250,000, including $1,500 prize for the Player of the Tournament (determined by Player Rankings Points);
  • Over 540 prize money places across all disciplines;
  • A true festival atmosphere, with live events and the newly-introduced “Mega Bowl” run throughout the tournament;
  • Two days of finals filmed and broadcast LIVE on Fox Sports.
