Thirty two men and eleven women have signed up for the upcoming, and last, Canadian Open Singles gig. The “Open” format never gained much traction, in spite of attracting 30 ish players each year. It appears that more participation is not always “better”. Maybe the rap against the open format is that the very best bowlers do not attend (Team Canada mbrs)? Next year’s event will shine a contrasting light on the new format – a hybrid provincial representative system that provides greater opportunity for some provinces (as many as 4 entries), and not for others. Bravo to all of these Canadian Singles Champion aspirants.
