  • This is the fourth time the mom and son have been to Australia for the games, an event that was on their collective bucket list of lawn-bowling goals. In Australia, they’ll play together on teams, but also with other players from around the world
  • Lawn bowling is a social sport and Ann Marie and John have made friendships with other bowlers around the world. It’s inexpensive to play and gets its players outside. It’s also cross-generational. Ann Marie calls it a “forever sport,” one that you can play from the time you’re a kid and well into your golden years
  • The Sitemans practice at the Dartmouth Lawn Bowls Club on Mount Hope Avenue.  The artificial green allows them to practice several months of the year
  • They’ve had their career highlights. John’s been to eight national championships. Ann Marie got to play the Australia number one player, Carla Krizanic. She lost 21-16. John played against world champion Kelvin Kerkow
